"Tiki Kirk selected as an Artist for Huntsville Botanical Garden Exhibit
​"Tiki Kirk, of Trussville, was selected as one of the artists to paint doors for the Huntsville Botanical Garden’s upcoming summer exhibit, ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND.  

64 Doors will be used to construct a children's maze in the garden.

The doors were donated by Habitat for Humanity and artists were 
asked to create their interpretation of Lewis Carroll's
"Alice's Adventure in Wonderland" book.

Tiki incorporated roofing shingles, swimming pool noodles, 
jewelry, old wooden picture frames and an antique globe in 
completing her 4 door sides for this exhibit.  

The exhibit will run from May 1 thru August 31, 2014."  


GREEN THINGS & BUTTERFLY WINGS
ARTIST CONTRIBUTOR - 2012

The Huntsville Botanical Garden has selected 35 artist to paint beautiful wooden outdoor butterflies for its annual summer exhibit, Green Things & Butterfly Wings.  Italian wood crafter, Nicola Giampietra, hand-crafted the almost 6' tall butterflies: each of which will be painted by one of the selected artists and scattered throughout the Garden.

Opening on May 5, 2012, it's estimated 60,000 - 80,000 visitors from all 50 states and seven continents will see the butterflies during th show's run from May - August, 2012.  A map to each butterfly with each artist's name, information, and website will be given to visitors upon arrival.  A plaque with each butterfly will also contain a Smart Phone QR code linking to the artist's information page and other works.

Approximately $ 50K in advertising will be used to advertise and support Green Things & Butterfly Wings.  In addition, the Garden's summer exhibits are frequently featured in local & regional newspapers, on television, and in regional magazines.

Charity Art Auction - ARTrageous

The IIDA Alabama Chapter, held it's 5th annual charity art auction, 
ARTrageous, on October 20, 2011, at Gallery Services.
This year's theme was "ARTrageous Masquerade".
Masks were delivered to local design firms to decorate and wear to the event.
With over 70 pieces of art and raffle prizes ranging from spa packages to 
furniture and a photo booth to document the fun, no one left disappointed.
ARTrageous benefits the IIDA Foundation, a philanthropic organization committed to the advancement of the Interior Design profession through education, research and knowledge.

Cahaba Vley Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Fundraiser
Annual Second Chance Prom to benefit the Alabama Kidney Foundation

The Cahaba Valley Benevolent Protective Order of Elks held their
9th Annual Second Chance Prom, benefiting the Alabama Kidney Foundation, at The Club in Birmingham, Alabama.  A  limited reserved seating event drew nearly 200 people who came out to support this special event.  

A silent auction was held on many items, including various artwork, framed paintings, baskets filled with fantastic goodies, restaurant and spa gift certificates; and even a riding lawn mower.  Later in the evening a live auction was heald for Alabama football helmets; Auburn football helmets signed by the entire 2010 National Championship team as well as a strand of pearls.

The event also included a delicious steak dinner followed by dancing and visiting with friends.

Art on the Rocks is the Museum's popular summer series that melds food,
drinks, music, and art together into an entertaining evening.
With access to the museum, interactive art, DJ and live music, and a 
scavenger hunt with prizes, the Art on the Rocks concert series has
become on of the city's hottest and most anticipated cultural and social events.

this event.

The IIDA Alabama Chapter, held it's 7th annual charity art auction, 
ARTrageous, on November 7th at Gallery Services.

Tiki Kirk's 2 ft. x 3 ft. piece, titled "LIBERTY UNLEASHED" was
created using a 1-1/2" thick recycled canvas and a painted body print technique in sealed acrylics, was sold at this important fundraiser. 

The Annual ARTrageous Auction benefits the IIDA Foundation, a not-for-profit (501c3) and philanthropic organization committed to the advancement of the Interior Design profession through education, research, and knowledge. The Foundation’s ‘Designing for the Future’ campaign funds, raised in part through this event, will be used to provide IIDA members with educational and professional development resources throughout the coming year.
